A cat café is a place where you can go to hangout with cats in a relaxing environment. The cats in a Cat Lounge are free to roam around and visitors can interact with the cats in that area. In the United States, many of these cats may be up for adoption with some cat cafés having some permanent resident cats.
Origin of Cat Cafés
“The concept began in Taiwan in 1998, but has found a special foothold in Japan, where more than 150 cat cafés have opened in the last ten years. While it might seem like a gimmicky fad, the cafés actually attract a large number of tourists and locals alike. In Japanese cities, many residents lack the space or time to care for their own cats, and the cat cafés offer animal interaction for a minimal investment.” – CLICK HERE for full article.
Cat Cafés in the United States
Cat cafés in the United States have a similar concept to those abroad, but due to health regulations the “food & drink” area must be separated from the “cat area”. At Enchanted Cat Café, we have a café area that is completely separate from our Cat Lounge.
We are proud to be partnered with Precious Paws Society of Nevada, which is based out of Fernley. You can learn more about the organization here: https://www.
This rescue specializes in a various cat saving efforts. We are excited to partner with them from an adoption and donation standpoint. We help the rescues by expanding their capacity as we work with their kitties to find a forever home. In addition, we are open to all forms of donations, which will be passed on to our partner, depending on their current needs.
We invite you to come have a meeting, use our café as your office and enjoy a drink or snack. You don’t have to interact with the cats, but can still enjoy the café area. The Cat Lounge is completely separate from the café space. You can still support local rescue animals without interacting with them.
The Cat Lounge and café are completely separate areas. We have air purifiers in the cat lounge to keep dander down to a minimum. You will be able to see into the Cat Lounge from the café, but don’t have to interact with the cats. We welcome you to visit our café space.
No, please do not bring your cat, you will have plenty feline companions to interact with while you are here. We do welcome pets that are for emotional support and disabilities, but just not in the Cat Lounge.
Not at all! You are welcome in for a drink or snack. We have plenty of seating for you to hangout, have a meeting, study or work. The Cat Lounge is separate from the café space.
We do NOT intake or accept cats from people. We are partnered with Precious Paws Society of Nevada who provides rescue cats to be fostered and showcased at Enchanted Cat Café. If you need to rehome a cat or have found one, please reach out to our local resources (WCRAS, NHS, PPSNV, etc.) Do NOT contact us with this type of inquiry. Thank you!
